Glock

Glock is an Austrian manufacturer of polymer-framed, striker-fired semi-automatic pistols, and its name is synonymous with reliability and simple operation. The company was founded by engineer Gaston Glock in 1963, but it was not until 1982 that it entered the firearms market with its first pistol, the Glock 17.

Glock Generations

Throughout its production history, Glock has released several generations with incremental improvements.

  • Gen 1 (1982–1988): The original, with a smooth "pebble finish" grip.
  • Gen 2 (1988–1998): Added checkering to the front and back of the grip for better traction.
  • Gen 3 (1998–2010): Introduced finger grooves on the grip and an accessory rail on the frame for mounting lights and lasers.
  • Gen 4 (2010–2017): Featured a modular backstrap system to adjust grip size, a dual recoil spring, and a larger, reversible magazine catch.
  • Gen 5 (2017–present): Removed the finger grooves and added a flared magazine well, ambidextrous slide stops, and the more accurate Marksman Barrel.
