North Korean Type 58 AK47 7.62x39 Parts Kit

The Type 58 (Korean: 5817557) is an assault rifle made in North Korea and derived from the Soviet AK-47 designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov tgat was produced 1958-1968. This was the first weapon made in North Korea alongside the PPSh-41, made under license as the Type 49.151.

North Korean dictator Kim Il-sung ordered the production of this new rifle in his country Gun Factory No. 65 in Jeoncheon-gun, Jagang-do (the name will be changed to "Jeoncheon 2·8 Machine Factory" later). Factory No. 65 was the first military factory in North Korea, which was established in 1949. It was licensed to produce with the help and management of Soviet gun technicians, and after that, other factories were also in charge of production. The North Korean army adopted it under the name of "58 automatic rifle" in 1958, the first year of production.

The initial type of the 58-style rifle used AK parts imported from the Soviet Union because North Korea was not yet capable of producing it completely. It was not until the early 1960s that North Korean gun technicians learned from Soviet technicians and were able to produce 58-style rifles completely with North Korean technology.

Before production of the Type 58 ceased, it's reported that around 800,000 were made. North Korea turned production towards the Type 68 in 1968 since it was too time-consuming to make the Type 58.

While the Type 58 is based on the AK-47 with the milled receiver, the difference between the two assault rifles is that the former has identifying marks such as the five-point star in a circle and Type 58 in hangul. The Type 58 has a firing rate of 600-650 RPM.

The Type 58's quality of finish bluing depends, which usually ranges from average to poor.

Initial production models were not made with bayonet lugs.

The guns are marked with a hangul (Korean) letter indicating their production date.
