H&R Handy Gun NFA Shotgun Kit.
The H&R Handy Gun was produced from 1921 to 1934 in both smooth bore and a rifled versions. Known for its compact size and ease of use in close quarters, it became a popular defensive tool in its time. Carried by good guys and some bad, it quickly proved itself effective in the 410 Ga shotgun variant. Priced under $20.00, it was an affordable option and like the Ithaca Auto and Burglar Side by Side it became controversial and eventually was reclassified as an AOW in the NFA of 1934. This made it too expensive and too much paperwork for the average buyer and its production ended in 1934. Approximately 54,000 were produced and many examples are still in the hands of owners throughout the country.
